Stronger Consulting is retained by a growing charter school network to find a Fractional Chief Operating Officer. This is a 10 month engagement at 25 to 30 hours per week. The network operates on Pacific time, so this role requires availability that aligns with Pacific business hours. Candidates may be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as they can work those hours.
About the role
The Fractional COO will lead operations across a multi school charter network during a period of growth and transition. This person will work closely with the CEO and school leaders to strengthen systems, oversee day to day operations, and build operational infrastructure that scales.
What you will do
Lead network wide operations, including facilities, HR administration, compliance, and finance coordination. Partner with the CEO on strategic priorities and translate them into operational execution. Assess current systems and identify where structure, staffing, or process needs to change. Build and refine policies, procedures, and reporting structures across school sites. Support budgeting and resource allocation in partnership with finance. Mentor and manage operations staff at the network and school level. Represent operations in board and leadership meetings as needed.
What you bring
15 or more years of credible leadership experience in charter school systems and operations. Direct experience managing operations across multiple school sites within a charter network. A track record of building or strengthening operational systems in a growth stage or transitional organization. Strong command of school operations domains: HR, finance coordination, facilities, compliance, and vendor management. Comfort working independently in a fractional or interim capacity. Availability to work Pacific business hours regardless of home location.
