ABOUT THE POSITION
The Manager, Strategic Communications is responsible for translating A More Perfect Union’s strategic priorities into clear, consistent, high-quality communications execution across digital channels, campaigns, and organizational platforms. The Manager owns day-to-day communications execution while also contributing to strategic planning, analytics, and campaign development. This role sits at the intersection of our research, programs, and partnerships work and ensures that our messaging, digital presence, and audience engagement are aligned, timely, and impactful.
This is a full-time, remote position reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Communications & Research.
Key Responsibilities
Own and Execute Core Communications Channels
- Manage and maintain the organization’s website, ensuring timely updates, structural integrity, and alignment with strategic priorities
- Lead email marketing operations, including drafting and designing, scheduling, segmentation, and performance tracking
- Oversee social media channels, including content planning, posting, audience engagement, and growth strategy
- Manage Program’s team content calendar, ensuring communications deliverables tied to program events and projects are executed on time and at a high standard
Translate Strategy into Campaign Plans
- Partner with the VP to translate strategic initiatives (e.g., America 250, Democracy Principles, civic learning campaigns) into concrete communications plans
- Build and manage production timelines that anticipate deliverables
- Implement communications campaigns from start to finish, including move from concept, to content, to distribution, and to measurement
- Monitor campaign performance and, when needed, identify risks early and recommend scope adjustments or resourcing shifts
Drive Audience Growth & Analytics
- Track and analyze performance across digital channels (Google Analytics, email metrics, social metrics)
- Provide regular reporting and actionable insights to inform messaging and investment decisions
- Lead experimentation with new formats, platforms, and audience acquisition strategies
- Develop dashboards or reporting systems that make performance visible and usable across teams, coordinating with the operations team to integrate communication metrics into overall measurement frameworks
Strengthen Organizational Communications Infrastructure
- Develop and maintain editorial calendars and communications project management systems
- Strengthen internal service delivery by developing or refining processes for website updates, landing pages, campaign launches, and other communications functions
- Serve as a reliable internal partner to staff by ensuring work plan deliverables and commitments to external audiences are met

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, AND SKILLS
- 3-5+ years experience in communications, digital strategy, or campaign management
- Passion for A More Perfect Union’s vision and approach
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multi-channel communications campaigns from planning through execution
- Demonstrated ability to craft high-quality content and communicate clearly and authentically with a wide range of audiences.
- Strong project management skills, including building timelines, managing dependencies, and preventing bottlenecks
- Demonstrated ability to master new technologies quickly and hands-on experience using email marketing systems, CRMs, and Google Analytics
- Ability to balance executional detail with strategic problem solving
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with colleagues across all organizational functions and levels on a virtual team

WORK ENVIRONMENT, SALARY, AND BENEFITS
A More Perfect Union currently has team members in multiple states. While team members primarily work remotely, we travel to gather in person regularly (4-6 times per year). The starting salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 per year. Team members who stay with A More Perfect Union can expect their salary to increase over time.
