About the team

The Climate Resilience Programme of WaterAid Bangladesh aims to improve access to water and sanitation services with promotion of safe hygiene practices among the targeted underprivileged people living in different climate vulnerable areas in Bangladesh. Under the interventions, WaterAid also works with schools and healthcare centers in the respective project areas to improve their WASH services including influencing respective local government institute (LGIs), youth, utility agencies, relevant actors, civil society organization, and stakeholders as appropriate. The team is headed by Programme Lead-Climate Resilience.

About the role

The Young Professional (Climate Resilience) will support the integration of climate resilience in WASH programmes by assisting in technical design reviews, field monitoring, and policy rollouts. The role includes preparing field visit reports, supporting partner capacity building, construction quality monitoring, QPS compliance, and providing cross-team technical inputs. This position offers a valuable opportunity for early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in climate resilience and development programming.

In this role, you will:

    • Technical Design & Review – Support the partner in developing and reviewing WASH-related designs, structural drawings, BoQs, and estimations, including stocktaking of all project-level technical documents.
    • Quality Assurance – Conduct field monitoring at all project stages (pre, during-, and post-construction) to ensure adherence to standards, identify deviations, and provide corrective feedback.
    • Policy & Compliance Support – Assist in rolling out and monitoring Water Quality, Construction Health & Safety, QPS, and related policies at project level, while identifying partner engineers’ capacity-building needs.
    • Monitoring & Reporting – Develop site monitoring checklists, coordinate with Programme Officers/Experts, and prepare technical and field visit reports, progress updates, and donor submissions.
    • Capacity Building – Support partners to drive social mobilization, develop content, and facilitate capacity-building events for key stakeholders.
    • Programme & Organizational Support – Provide technical inputs to the Climate Resilience team and other programmes, while sharing additional responsibilities as required from the organization side.

The responsibilities outlined above may be subject to periodic review and revision in consultation with the line manager.

To be successful, you will need:

Education: Fresh Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a relevant subject or faculty with good academic results throughout the academic career.

Desired attributes:

    • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering drawings, construction, estimation, report writing, and copy-editing.
    • Good understanding of construction material quality, health and safety protocols, construction quality control, and implementation modalities.
    • Strong technical understanding of various WASH technologies and their applications.
    • Good presentation and communication skills in both English and Bangla.
    • Willingness to undertake extensive field visits.
    • Maximum age of 26 years as of 1 January 2026.
