2026 Summer Internship Program– Communications Team (3-month program)

Instiglio
On-site
Bogotá, Colombia

Who we are

Instiglio’s mission is to build public institutions that truly work for societies and the planet. We exist to unlock the potential of public institutions — not by chasing marginal gains, but by reimagining and rebuilding them from the inside out.

We partner with governments and development actors (e.g., the World Bank, FCDO, Hilton Foundation) to align public funding with measurable outcomes and strengthen the systems, incentives, and capabilities that drive sustained impact. Over the past decade, we have worked in more than 30 low- and middle-income countries, helping institutions design and embed reforms that make every cent of public funding deliver public value.

To scale our impact, we incubated the Government Empowerment Network (GEN) —  a globally networked, AI-powered, and government-led reform accelerator designed to empower civil servants to incubate reforms that transform government institutions, strengthen service delivery, and improve citizens’ lives. GEN combines a six-month in-person reform incubator with an AI-enabled learning and collaboration platform, equipping champions to diagnose systemic challenges, design reforms, and strengthen delivery capabilities across ministries. Following a successful first cohort in Uganda with over 30 public servants from six ministries, we recently launched in Colombia, followed by Morocco later this year. In 2026, we plan to consolidate learnings and expand to at least two additional countries in 2026, while continuing to support current countries.

Our team

A core contributing factor to the influence Instiglio has had thus far includes our collaborative, highly skilled and diverse team. We are a team of 80+ people, representing 15+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia, Kenya, Morocco, Mauritius and Uganda. Our team brings together experience from government, management consulting, multilateral institutions, and the social sector; united by a mission to help governments perform better for their people.

How you will make an impact
We are looking for a highly organized and systems-oriented candidate with a strong interest in communications for social development, corporate communications, or project management. This full-time internship offers a unique opportunity to gain professional exposure to an international team working at the intersection of impact and storytelling—planning and producing content around large-scale projects in health, climate, early childhood development, WASH, education, migration, and more. As our intern, you will play a key role in strengthening and streamlining our internal knowledge management and tracking systems—helping to ensure that the Communications Team can intuitively organize, track, and access key information across platforms in a structured and sustainable way.

1.Redesign Communications Knowledge Management Architecture
The intern will assess our current SharePoint structure and reorganize it into a clear, logical, and scalable system that supports both internal Communications Team workflows and broader organizational access to communications resources. This includes:

  • Reviewing existing folders and files to identify duplication, inconsistencies, and outdated materials
  • Proposing and implementing a simplified folder structure with clear logic (e.g., strategy, content, brand assets, reports, archive)
  • Centralizing key resources, such as templates, brand assets, communications guidelines, and image libraries, to make them easily accessible for Instiglio Staff.
  • Creating clear naming conventions and version control rules to ensure consistency moving forward
  • Preparing the structure for organization-wide visibility and ease of use

2. Develop a Knowledge Management Guide
To ensure sustainability beyond the internship, the intern will produce a practical internal manual that documents:

  • Where different types of documents should be created and saved (e.g., LinkedIn posts, strategy decks, reports, event materials, brand material, internal documents)
  • Standard naming conventions and file organization rules
  • How to differentiate and archive legacy brand materials
  • Guidance on how colleagues across the organization can access communications resources
  • Best practices for maintaining a clean and navigable system
  • Supporting light change-management efforts to ensure awareness and consistent use of Communications resources across teams

3. Develop a Structured LinkedIn Engagement Tracking Dashboard
To strengthen our ability to make data-informed communications decisions, the intern will design and implement a simple, organized system to track LinkedIn engagement metrics over time. This may include:

  • Identifying which LinkedIn metrics are most relevant to our strategic objectives (e.g., impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, post types, click-throughs)
  • Designing an Excel-based dashboard that allows for monthly data uploads and automatic aggregation of trends
  • Structuring the tracker to enable comparison across post types, themes, formats, and campaigns
  • Proposing a lightweight hypothesis-testing framework (e.g., testing post format, timing, topic clusters)
  • Creating clear documentation so the system can be maintained by the team over time

The objective is to move from ad hoc metric review to a consistent, visual, and strategic understanding of what content performs well and why, enabling more intentional content planning and KPI tracking.

4. Support Knowledge Products & Events Tracker Management
Map opportunities—like development sector events, podcasts, and awards—that align with our positioning goals.
Update relevant information, such as completed initiatives and upcoming deadlines.

5. Additional Learning & Contribution Opportunities

While the primary focus of this internship is on knowledge management and systems strengthening, the intern may have opportunities to contribute to other workstreams depending on interest, capacity, and team needs.

The intern may also be asked to support areas such as:

  • Drafting or refining social media content
  • Supporting content planning
  • Assisting with basic graphic design needs using existing brand templates
  • Supporting interviews, storytelling pieces, or video editing
  • Contributing ideas for content development
  • Providing administrative support, including notetaking, scheduling, and other tasks, as needed.
