Position Summary:

The Alumni Services Intern is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and occasionally evaluation of programs and activities based on the needs of Generation Hope alumni and their families, staff, and volunteers. The Alumni Services Intern will work primarily with the Vice President of Family Programming but will also collaborate with other Generation Hope staff on various projects. The Alumni Services Intern will have the opportunity to design and implement a project of their choosing—this could range from creating new resources for our Alumni to designing elements of training, etc. 

Candidates are expected to participate in this internship at least 20 hours per week for at least 15 weeks. Candidates who can volunteer additional time are preferable. You will receive an incentive of $3000 for your participation in the internship program. This incentive is intended to support the costs you may incur during your internship at Generation Hope, such as childcare. Internships begin August 2025-December 2025, with some flexibility on starting and ending dates. The internship will be largely remote with some in-person meetings and events. Interns must be located in the Washington, DC metro area during the time of the internship. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee logistical details related to alumni program activities.
  • Assist with maintaining alumni records and database files.
  • Assist with marketing and communicating the Generation Hope Alumni Program to the alumni community.
  • Track program participation and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Assist with recruiting volunteers for the alumni program
  • Support preparation of alumni training materials such as slide decks, etc. 
  • Attend all weekly staff meetings and evening meetings where appropriate.
  • Support on-site with events both for the alumni program and for Generation Hope’s other direct services programs, including assisting with childcare, logistics, etc. 
  • Support with other events and projects related to Generation Hope’s direct services programs (including the alumni program) as needed and requested. 
  • Other duties as requested. 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required. Preference will be given to candidates with some college experience, particularly those studying Public Administration, Family Studies, Social Work, Health and Human Services, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs and Google Suites.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Personal and professional commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic and institutional racism
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Self-directed and able to carry through projects with little oversight in a largely remote environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10lbs at times.

Work Environment: Normal office environment. Some work will take place offsite.
