AMNC25 - Intern, Trade & Economy

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

You will work closely with respective teams at the World Economic Forum Beijing Office to support the preparations for the Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC).

Duration and location

1 April – Early July; 4-5 days/week onsite at the Beijing office

Requirements

The Internship role is for candidates currently pursuing a college or university degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) and is usually undertaken during the penultimate year of study. While your major is not important, we are looking for candidates with an outstanding record of academic achievement, a can-do attitude and a desire to make an impact.

Throughout the internship, you will have the unique opportunity to:

The intern will join the office for a three-month period during spring of 2025. You will work four to five days a week and receive a RMB 7500 monthly stipend if working on full- time.

Team Introduction

The Trade & Economy team brings together leading companies with policymakers and civil society from around the world. It fosters structured dialogue on challenges and opportunities for resilient, sustainable, and inclusive trade and investment, building global initiatives to drive impactful reform.

Key areas of interest include: tariffs, FDI, digital trade, sustainable trade, regional cooperation, trade finance.

Main Responsibilities

Research & Content Design for Trade Sessions at AMNC25:

  • Collaborate with colleagues from Business Engagement (BE), Government Engagement (GE), Events, and Geneva HQ to effectively research and develop content for trade sessions at AMNC25.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis using dashboards, Excel and desk-based research to anticipate business development opportunities at AMNC25.

Session Delivery & Execution:

  • Invite and engage core stakeholders, including Chinese government agencies, industry players, academics and thought leaders.
  • Coordinate logistics and participant/event data management across different workstreams, including direct client-facing support and communication.

Translation and Documentation:

  • Draft materials that need to be produced in Chinese. Assist with the translation into Chinese of draft materials written in English, including session materials, insights reports, and event outcomes documentation.
  • Oversee Chinese language quality control of client-facing materials.

Logistical Support:

  • Support logistical arrangements with the event team.
  • Prepare delegates for bilateral meetings, community sessions, and media interviews.
  • Act as on-call resource for delegates and management during AMNC.

Preferred Requirements and Experience

  • Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese AND professional business fluency in English.
  • Strong organisational and client-facing communication skills, including confidence in working with numbers and statistical concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience in event planning and logistics is a plus.
