ABOUT THE LAB

The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab) is a public-private initiative that identifies, develops, and launches innovative climate finance instruments. It aims to drive billions of dollars of private investment into climate change mitigation and adaptation in developing countries. Lab instruments address investment barriers across a wide variety of sectors, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate adaptation, sustainable land-use, climate tech, and carbon.  

 Since launching in 2014, The Lab and its initiatives have successfully launched 68 new innovative financial instruments, have been endorsed by the G7 and collectively attracted over USD 4+ billion in seed capital through the instruments that were endorsed by the Lab Members.

 In addition to the Lab’s global thematic programs, the Lab includes five regional programs in Brazil, East and Southern Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, India, and the Philippines.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Lab is looking for a motivated Junior Analyst or Analyst to support the India program of the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance. This role will contribute to the development of climate finance instruments within the Lab’s India program and help scale successful financial solutions from the Lab portfolio.

 

The Jr. Analyst/Analyst will work closely with the India program lead and the Lab Global Program Manager, collaborating with a range of national and international partners in policy, finance, and the corporate sector, as well as CPI teams in India and globally.

The Jr. Analyst/Analyst will manage deliverables and engage with India Lab stakeholders, using a rigorous analytical approach that incorporates methodologies from economics, public policy, finance, and other relevant fields.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of India’s climate and economic development priorities, climate policy frameworks, and market conditions affecting the region. Knowledge of development finance and blended finance structures is an advantage. The Jr. Analyst/Analyst should also have a strong understanding of the public and private investor landscape in India, with existing relationships and networks among key stakeholders and decision-makers. 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Including the following and others as required:

  • Work closely with international partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with CPI teams throughout the world in instrument development and working group management tasks.
  • Support   business development and strategy to improve the Lab's presence and impact in India.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the climate, agriculture, and renewable energy sectors, and provide advice and support to Lab and CPI Senior Management
  • Oversee continued support activities for Lab instruments, including oversight of deliverables, events, and managing investor outreach
  • Deliver high-quality outputs on time and within a budget
  • Support & collaborate with India Program lead, Lab Global Program Manager, Associate Director & other key Lab staff

 

 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • BA or BS/BSc degree required, MA or MSc or equivalent degree preferred with coursework in finance, economics, environmental policy (focus on energy, agriculture, water/sanitation, land-use a plus), or another relevant field
  • 1 – 4 years of overall experience
  • Experience in climate finance, development finance, management consulting, policy, and/or energy markets and/or sustainable land use
  • Private sector experience, preferably in the financial sector and/or government or multilateral experience is highly valuable
  • Advanced knowledge of Indian policy environment, energy markets, sustainable transport, and/or key sustainable land-use and agriculture issues
  • Financial Modelling experience is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with climate adaptation issues and concepts strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with blended finance instruments / approaches strongly preferred

We strongly prefer the Jr. Analyst / Analyst to be based in Delhi. However, exceptional candidates may be considered who are based elsewhere in India.
