✨ About the Role
At Verto Education, the Assistant Student Success Manager (ASSM) is a key onsite leader responsible for delivering a high-quality student experience through academic support, advising, and holistic student success programming. The ASSM serves as a front-line manager overseeing a team of Student Success Advisors (SSAs), ensuring consistent delivery of student support while maintaining direct engagement with students.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Success
🚀 What You’ll Be Doing
Team Leadership & Supervision

Directly supervise a team of 6–7 Student Success Advisors (SSAs) each semester
- Provide regular 1:1 supervision, coaching, and performance management
- Ensure consistency in student support, case management, and escalation practices across the team
- Review and provide feedback on SSA case documentation and student interactions
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of SSAs

Foster a strong team culture aligned with Verto values and student-centered practices
Student Success & Academic Support
- Serve as a primary advisor for students, supporting academic progress, goal setting, and overall success
- Identify students in need of intervention and coordinate appropriate support plans
- Provide learning strategies and facilitate interventions to maximize student success
- Deliver workshops and programming related to academic success, transition, and skill development
- Connect students with academic tutoring, mentoring, and learning support services in collaboration with the Academics Team

Assist with implementation of Academic Accommodations for students
Student Support & Escalation
- Serve as an escalation point for student success concerns, collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to determine appropriate interventions
- Support students in navigating challenges while promoting independence and accountability
- Assist in responding to urgent or after-hours student needs, on rotation with other team members
Programming & Community Engagement

Lead or support student programming initiatives, including:
- Community engagement and service opportunities
- Experiential learning activities
- Student leadership development
- Support delivery of Discovery Week and ongoing student success programming

Contribute to building a strong, inclusive student community
Housing & Residential Support
- Partner with Housing Operations (where applicable) on student-facing housing concerns
- Support student transitions, room changes, and community expectations
- Assist in responding to housing-related issues as part of broader student support
- Reinforce housing policies and expectations with students
Pre-Arrival & Orientation Support
- Serve as a point of contact for pre-arrival advising and participate in virtual pre-departure sessions
- Support onboarding of students during Discovery Week
- Help ensure students understand expectations, resources, and support systems
Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate case documentation and communication in Salesforce
- Collaborate closely with Program Directors, Housing Operations, and Academic teams
- Support consistent implementation of Student Success systems and protocols
Seasonal Role Flexibility

In lower-enrollment Spring semesters, this role may flex into a direct student-facing SSA capacity
- Ensure continuity of student support while adapting to site-specific staffing needs
- Support cross-functional coverage (e.g., academic support, programming, or housing coordination) as needed
🧠 What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- 2–4 years experience with student success, academic advising, student support services, or related higher education work
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in higher education, student affairs administration, counseling, social work or related field
- Experience working with college-aged students in advising or administrative capacities
- Experience supervising students or staff
- Ability to embody and model kindness, openness, flexibility, curiosity, empathy, integrity, responsibility, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse, global team
- Must have authorization to work in the country in which this position is located (Verto is unable to sponsor visas)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Student-centered approach with ability to serve as a coach, mentor, and advisor
- Ability to build trust with students and support goal setting and decision-making
- Awareness of varying academic abilities and learning needs, including accommodations
- Ability to identify and recommend targeted interventions
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff
- Strengths-based approach to advising and supporting participants
- Belief in the value of experiential education and global learning
- Comfortable working with systems such as Salesforce, Canvas, Slack, Asana, and other tools
