Position Summary

General Atlantic is looking to hire an Associate to join the Growth Acceleration team in our New York Office. The Associate will drive execution across a mix of high-priority diligence and portfolio value creation projects within GA’s portfolio (across key practice areas such as go-to-market, pricing, operational efficiency, and AI/data science).   

As GA’s “in-house management consulting group”, the Growth Acceleration team is deeply involved across the investment cycle, beginning in diligence (partnering with GA investment teams to evaluate potential investments), and continuing into every stage of value creation (partnering with portfolio companies to achieve their top value creation priorities). Centered in New York, the team supports diligence and value creation projects across GA’s global investment portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary research activities and analysis (e.g., calls with industry experts, surveys of consumers and key decision makers) to understand key market trends and competitive dynamics
  • Own workstream design and day-to-day execution, including work-planning, quality control, and coordinating the contributions of analysts staffed on the project
  • Review market research reports, alternative data, and company information to rapidly evaluate market landscape and competitive positioning
  • Perform analysis of internal and external data sources to build market models and develop a rigorous view on key market sizing thresholds (e.g., TAM, SAM, vended market)
  • Synthesize findings across disparate workstreams to deliver proprietary market perspective materials
  • Collaborate internally with in-house subject matter experts on go-to-market, operational efficiency, pricing, and AI/data science topics, to shape and execute high-priority initiatives alongside portfolio company leaders
  • Package materials into executive-level presentations to be shared and discussed with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., senior investors, C-level management, founders)
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact for GA investment teams and portfolio company leadership on assigned workstreams
  • Gain exposure to and build subject matter expertise across a broad range of industries and business models within GA’s global portfolio
  • Support analysis of macro-level themes of interest across GA's core sectors and geographies
  • Support development of GA’s internal IP, toolkits, and playbooks across diligence and core value creation areas (e.g., diagnostic frameworks, AI implementation strategies) by codifying best practices and building reusable assets
  • Help identify and evaluate strategic vendors, tools, and experts that can accelerate impact
  • Mentor and develop analysts, providing coaching on core toolkit skills, feedback, and professional growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience at a top-tier management consulting firm
  • Highly analytical coupled with strong intuition; able to think and react quickly
  • Strong project management skills – time management, pattern recognition, prioritization and strong judgement are critical; ability to work well under pressure without compromising quality
  • Experience owning final output / deliverables on client facing projects
  • Strong attention to detail, exceptional follow through and consistently delivers results
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a high-performing global organization. Highly collaborative and capable of working effectively cross functionally
  • Demonstrated maturity and professional presence; comfortable interacting with senior executives
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly motivated, inquisitive, and positive can-do attitude

General Atlantic offers a robust reward program to all employees that will support you and your family, maintaining fulfilling, secure and healthy lives now and into the future, which includes but is not limited to medical insurance, retirement savings contributions, mental and physical health resources and an equal pay program that allows you to earn a base salary of $125,000-$160,000 of which the exact amount offered will be driven by the degree to which you meet role requirements, additional special skills and experience.  Additional reward programs, such as annual discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive programs, are available for eligible employees and are offered as recognition for performance and one’s contributions towards the organization’s success.
