The Team

The Assurance & Enterprise Risk Management (ARM) team helps protect the integrity of the foundation’s brand and reputation in the service of impact. We provide assurance to foundation leadership and the trustees over the dollars we invest, the data we gather, and the de‐sign of business processes we rely on.

We do this through:
• Providing objective and independent assurance to the trustees and to foundation leadership;
• Monitoring the foundation’s risk exposure;
• Assessing the foundation’s and its partners’ performance and capabilities;
• Investigating possible illegal, unethical, or improper conduct related to our grantmaking.

This position reports to the Director of Assurance and Enterprise Risk Management.

Your Role

We are looking for a full-time Associate to support the team in the implementation of technology solutions, specifically AuditBoard (now known as Optro), and a strong focus on AI tools.

This role does not require existing audit experience. It does require skills and experience with systems design, configuration, and implementation, that would be helpful in translating audit and risk management needs into technology solutions.

The position lead and/or contribute to the configuration, rollout, and continuous improvement of audit tools and workflows while supporting ongoing audits.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in systems implementation, business analysis, or technology enablement and a demonstrated understanding of using AI tools and an understanding of or experience in audit processes.

This position is a limited-term position for 8 months and is based in Seattle. Relocation will not be provided.

What You’ll Do

Audit Technology Implementation & Optimization (75%)

Lead and support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of audit management tools (primarily AuditBoard):

  • Assess current audit processes and conduct stakeholder interviews to understand audit team needs, pain points, and workflow requirements
  • Develop and maintain implementation roadmaps and project timelines
  • Configure AuditBoard to align with audit methodologies and workflows
  • Define user roles, access controls, and governance structures
  • Design and customize audit templates, workflows, and reporting outputs
  • Lead data migration of historical audit records into AuditBoard
  • Partner with stakeholders to conduct user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Provide hands-on support during implementation
  • Develop training materials (user guides, quick references, videos) and deliver training sessions to facilitate team onboarding
  • Establish feedback loops and continuous improvement mechanisms

Grantee Audit and Assurance (15%)

  • Work with the Assurance team to ensure that audits are conducted at a high level of quality, and in line with our expectations.
  • Supervise daily workflow and project activities, ensuring jobs and responsibilities are clear, tasks and results are met, and action items are completed.
  • Track results and supervising status, including document creation, presentation preparation, logistical support, and systems management.

Other work (10%)

  • Work on special team projects as needed, including ad hoc support of Grantee and Internal Audit.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor or Advanced degree in Accounting, Management, or related field, or equivalent blend of education and experience
  • Experience with database design and tailoring (AuditBoard/Optro or similar audit platforms preferred)
  • Experience in systems implementation, configuration, or business process design
  • Familiarity with internal controls, risk assessment practices and audit methodologies

  • Understand risk assessment and mitigation practices and tools

The salary range for this role is $97,600 to $146,400 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $107,400 to $161,000 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.

Must have unrestricted work authorization in the country where this position is located.
