Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organisation. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations. 

 

OVERVIEW:  
 
NP first established a presence in Ukraine in 2014/2015 working on peacebuilding and conflict mediation. NP has had a sustained presence in Ukraine since April 2022. NP occupies a unique space in the protection response in Ukraine; simultaneously providing direct protection to at-risk civilians and providing hands-on support to front-line volunteer collectives to directly contribute to the sustainability and safety of their actions.  

 

JOB SUMMARY:   

 

The Consortium Manager of the NP-led Consortium HAVEN, funded by FCDO, will be responsible for overall coordination and administration of the Consortium, management of the Consortium Coordination Unit, and will oversee the successful achievement of the project’s goals and outcomes in all the different components of the project, fostering a joint and shared vision among the Consortium Members. The Consortium Manager will enable tracking of implementation of the Consortium’s deliverables and will maintain high level of accountability for the Consortium’s budget management, M&E, reporting discipline and quality, both with regard to individual Consortium Members, and the Consortium as a whole. The Consortium Manager will serve as the key focal point for internal and external stakeholders in matters related to the Consortium and will be the primary point of contact with FCDO.

 

KEY OBJECTIVES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Project Management

  • Manage and administer a well-functioning and established Consortium, built around collaborative leadership and decision making, capitalising on the expertise and capacities of all Consortium Members.
  • Take the lead in facilitating close communication, crosspollination and coordination among the Consortium Members to ensure timely and quality implementation of all project activities in line with the workplan and common commitments.
  • Organise and lead Monthly meetings, Task Forces and Steering Committee meetings upon agreed schedule, ensure timely development of Minutes of meetings and follow up on actions points. Facilitate discussions and reviews in collaborative spaces to continuously enhance quality of Consortium’s outputs;
  • Track Consortium’s engagement and collaboration, develop and implement solutions and guidance for enhanced quality workflows.

 

Communication and Reporting

  • Represent the consortium and NP to FCDO and other external stakeholders, effectively communicating challenges, successes, and contextual changes throughout the course of the project.
  • Lead the coordination between Consortium Members and partners on a day-to-day basis
  • Manage the timeline of submission of deliverables throughout the project cycle, advise on and consolidate narrative and progress reports and ad hoc submissions and updates as requested by the donor.
  • Provide guidance to Consortium Members on finetuning and enhancement of reporting practices and quality inputs.

 

Financial Management

  • Guide and support Consortium Finance Coordinator in managing financial reporting and tracking of budgetary commitments throughout the project cycle.
  • Lead communication with FCDO and with the Consortium Members on the funding strategies, budget allocation, expenditures and any related budgetary issues.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

 

A.    Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in refugee law, human rights, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, negotiation, mediation, human security or related
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing large projects in INGOs
  • At least 2 years of working experience in partnership or consortium management.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in budget management.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and understanding of the humanitarian context programming.
  • Experience in grant writing, donor reporting, M&E

 

B.    Skills

  • Strong collaborator with effective interpersonal and analytical skills who can work seamlessly across cultures and organisations.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, multi-task, prioritise and make decisions.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently and with a team needed
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written. Understanding of Ukrainian/Russian language is an asset.

 

C.    Other Specialised Requirements

  • Ukraine is a complex security environment and the evolution of the war is completely unpredictable – experience in insecure environments is essential to succeed in this position.
