Inkomoko has 650+ staff in 40 offices across Chad, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Sudan. Through Inkomoko’s 2030 strategic plan, we are adding 3 additional countries to serve more than 550,000 entrepreneurs and growing our $30M loan fund to impact 7M lives.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & RESPONSIBILITIES

As we scale rapidly across the region and beyond, our communications must keep pace—boldly telling our story, amplifying the voices of our clients, and shaping our digital presence to reflect our global ambition.
We are seeking a dynamic Digital Media Manager to lead Inkomoko’s digital strategy, elevate our brand across online platforms, and build the systems that will carry us into the next phase of growth. This is a strategic leadership opportunity within the communications team to shape how the world sees Inkomoko. This position is open only to candidates residing in our countries of operation: Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, and Chad.
🔹 Digital Strategy & Brand Growth
- Develop and execute a bold, continentally relevant digital media strategy that positions Inkomoko as a thought leader and largest lender to refugees in Africa, regionally and globally.
- Lead the evolution of Inkomoko’s digital ecosystem—including the website, newsletters, podcast, and social media channels—to reflect a growing, pan-African brand.
- Support the digital amplification of executive thought leadership through platforms like LinkedIn, TED, and global forums, in collaboration with the Communications Director and CEO.
🔹 Channel Management & Innovation
- Oversee all owned digital platforms, ensuring optimized content, consistent messaging, and strategic channel differentiation.
- Monitor emerging digital trends and tools, and pilot innovative approaches (e.g., AI, automation, social listening) to enhance reach and storytelling impact.
- Ensure high-quality user experience (UX), SEO performance, and integration with CRM and engagement systems.
🔹 Content Leadership
- Oversee the development of powerful, culturally resonant digital content—stories, photography, and video—that showcases Inkomoko’s impact.
- Guide the storytelling strategy to ensure content reflects the voices and experiences of clients in each country of operation.
- Manage and grow a multimedia story bank of client testimonials and success narratives for use across campaigns and communications.
🔹 Team Management & Capacity Building
- Supervise and mentor the digital media team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Strengthen internal capabilities across the organization to create, repurpose, and amplify content, especially at the country level.
🔹 Campaigns & Performance
- Plan, execute, and optimize paid digital campaigns to boost awareness, recruitment, fundraising, and advocacy.
- Lead on digital analytics reporting—tracking KPIs, analyzing trends, and refining strategy based on performance data.
- Ensure campaigns are insight-driven and reflect audience behaviors across markets and platforms.
🔹 Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with P&C, Partnerships, Programs, and Country Teams to align digital storytelling and campaigns with broader organizational priorities.
- Provide digital media guidance to country-level social media efforts, ensuring alignment with overall brand strategy while allowing for local adaptation.
🔹 Digital Risk & Brand Protection
- Develop digital media risk protocols and social media crisis response strategies to protect the organization's reputation.
- Monitor online sentiment and engagement to detect early risks and opportunities in real time.
🔹 Budget & Resource Oversight
- Manage digital media budgets and oversee vendor relationships, ensuring effective resource allocation and maximum return on investment.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years of digital media experience, with significant work in or focused on African markets and global amplification.
- Demonstrated success in developing digital strategies that drive measurable growth, engagement, and brand influence.
- Strong creative and technical expertise in content development, video production, social media, and analytics platforms.
- Experience running paid media campaigns and collaborating with cross-functional and international teams.
- Excellent writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
