Desired Candidate Profile

Operational context:

The operational context in Sudan changed drastically when, on 15 April 2023, armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The ongoing conflict is the latest development in Sudan’s stunted transition to democratic governance following the military takeover on 25 October 2021. The conflict has dramatically worsened the humanitarian conditions in Sudan, exacerbated by pre-existing intercommunal and ethnic tensions, and triggered massive displacement. It is estimated that around 11.5 - 11.6 million people were displaced within Sudan by the end of 2024, marking the largest IDP crisis in the world for a single country at that time. Interagency estimates for internal displacement are higher than the recorded IDP movements of the last four years combined, highlighting the largescale humanitarian crisis facing Sudan and which continues to affect its neighboring countries. The number of IDPs in Gedaref state alone was estimated at over 1 million having been the epicenter of displacement. Currently, the number of IDPs in Gedaref state is estimated at 23,059 HHs and 678,766 individuals, as many IDPs reportedly relocated back to locations across Khartoum, Sennar, and Al Gezirah, upon takeover by SAF.
It's worth noting that Gedaref state has four refugee camps of Babikiri, Tunaydbah, Um Rakuba and Um Gargour, including the Urban protracted caseload in Gedaref and residual caseload in Village 8, who are quasi-integrated.
the Driver will report directly to the Administrative Associate or the Snr Driver in the absence of the Admin Associate. The position may be supervised by the Snr driver daily for better coordination of the transport section. The incumbent is expected to be supervised in most aspects of his/her duties.

- Knowledge of UNHCR transport arrangements.
- Experience in driving on highway and off road especially in rainy season.
- Knowledge with refugees’ camps locations is essential.
- Knowledge of Gedaref terrain driving.
- Computer knowledge is an advantage.
- Knowledge of mechanic is an advantage.
