About IDinsight

We amplify social impact by partnering with leaders to develop tailored solutions. Our mission is to improve lives with data and evidence. We transform how the world fights poverty.

IDinsight is a global nonprofit that equips leaders with the data, evidence and technology to improve lives at scale. We partner with governments, NGOs, multilaterals, and funders to support decisions at every stage of their impact journey – from bold pilots to nationwide scale-ups. Our teams bring rigorous evidence and practical insights so leaders can make informed decisions that truly change lives. With our partners, we are pioneering the next frontier of social impact, where data and technology accelerate progress for millions. We help leaders overcome the three main barriers to impact:

1. Figuring out what works

2. Learning and improving

3. Reaching and operating at scale

We work in multiple countries across Asia and Africa. Our work spans a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, education, health, governance, sanitation, financial inclusion, and other areas.

We have expertise in a variety of rigorous approaches and methodologies, which we tailor to each client depending on their needs and constraints. To achieve a positive social impact, we:

  • Support our partners with the full ‘data and evidence’ value chain – from primary data collection to data systems, monitoring evaluation and learning tools, and data science
  • Inform funding decisions – toward high-impact initiatives and away from less effective programs or approaches
  • Create cutting-edge AI-for-good products that make the delivery of social interventions and learning tools more cost-effective and scalable

Our diverse, growing team of roughly 250 outstanding colleagues operate in nearly two dozen countries around the world. Learn more about our mission, values, and principles at www.IDinsight.org.

About the Role

We are launching a new, rotational role for exceptional generalists who want to help shape IDinsight from the inside, receive unparalleled exposure to what it takes to run the organization, and have significant autonomy to execute high priority projects on behalf of the C-suite and global Executive Team. The Executive (Senior) Associate will lend much-needed capacity to the Executive team to support strategic priorities, board engagement, cross-regional coordination, and special initiatives designed to strengthen the organization’s ability to deliver impact for the communities we serve. This role offers visibility into the highest-level decision-making within IDinsight (Board dynamics, executive discussions, strategic pivots) while contributing to the nitty gritty pieces that make the org work (systems improvements, business operations, executive support, Board engagement, goal tracking, etc.).

This role is designed for people who:

  • Learn quickly across different domains and enjoy trying lots of new things
  • Can effectively manage up to senior leaders and navigate unconventional/shifting reporting structures (may report to multiple people at once or over time on different initiatives)
  • See the importance in the unglamorous “plumbing” work that helps the org drive social impact
  • Are comfortable shifting from high-level strategic goals to nitty gritty “get stuff done” execution
  • Want to see and experience a wide range of organizational strategic and operational components - perhaps in service of someday occupying executive roles or leading an organization of their own

You will sit within the Executive Team, but you will not focus on purely Executive workstreams Instead, you will rotate across different teams and priorities depending on where the organization most needs a sharp, trusted generalist. Generally rotations will be a minimum of ~3 months and 50% time.

We envision this to be a “roving problem-solver” role. By the end of the tenure, the Executive (Senior) Associate will have a uniquely broad understanding of how IDinsight works and where you want to grow next.

The ideal tenure in this role is approximately ~2 years, with the expectation that the individual will grow into leadership roles either within the Executive Team or elsewhere in the organization.

Responsibitlies

Your assignments will evolve over time. A defining feature of this role is that there is no single fixed job description. You will operate as a trusted generalist and “utility player,” deployed across different priorities depending on where the organization most needs a sharp, reliable problem-solver. You might work on one major initiative at a time, or split your time across multiple efforts. Comfort with ambiguity, shifting workstreams, and trying new things is essential.

Typical rotations may fall into any of the following five buckets:

1) Strategy and Transformation

Working directly with the CEO and relevant executives to shape and drive IDinsight’s strategic priorities.

This may include:

  • Driving cross-organizational strategy priorities
  • Supporting implementation of our strategy across regions and functions
  • Partnering with leaders on internal and external AI transformation
  • Conducting deep dives on key organizational questions such as growth, org structure, or financial sustainability
  • Translating high-level strategy into concrete execution plans
  • Supporting major partnerships, proposals, or new initiatives

2) Executive Office and Board Governance Support

Strengthening executive effectiveness and governance structures.

This may include:

  • Preparing materials, agendas, and follow-up for senior leadership meetings
  • Supporting preparation for triannual Board meetings
  • Conducting analyses requested by Board members
  • Coordinating Board committees such as Finance & Audit or Governance & Nominations
  • Supporting executive communications and internal connectivity
  • Supporting the Executive Office in select internal or external engagements
  • Building and maintaining strong knowledge systems for leadership and governance

3) Business Operations and Organizational Effectiveness

Improving how the organization runs day to day.

This may include:

  • Supporting OKR tracking and enterprise performance management
  • Improving internal systems and operational processes (e.g., CRM, ERP, safety & security, compliance), including through AI integration
  • Piloting operational improvements or new tools
  • Supporting change management efforts
  • Working with the COO’s office to maintain sound compliance and operational discipline

4) People, Culture, and Leadership Initiatives

Supporting initiatives that strengthen leadership capability and teammate experience, especially as IDinsight enters a heavy phase of People & Culture investment.

This may include:

  • Designing or executing new culture and people programs
  • Driving internal learning, innovation, or connectivity initiatives
  • Supporting CEO roadshows, leadership retreats, and global convenings
  • Contributing to recognition, rotational, or professional development programs

5) Client-Facing and Field Engagement

Short-term deployments onto high-priority projects or teams to stay grounded in IDinsight’s core work with governments, nonprofits, and funders.

This may include:

  • Supporting an IDinsight project in a new strategic area (AI products, AI transformation, cost-effectiveness)
  • Helping a regional team manage a surge in work
  • Leading a small project or workstream end-to-end
  • Embedding with a client-facing team for a defined rotation

Qualifications

This is a high-trust, high-responsibility role. We are looking for someone we would feel comfortable placing on the organization’s hardest and most important priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience (e.g., global development, consulting, strategy, operations, policy, or similar fields); can include work-study or internships
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex workstreams or projects with limited supervision; independent and entrepreneurial
  • Excellent writing and communication, including synthesis of complex material into clear memos or presentations
  • Experience working in cross-cultural environments
  • Demonstrated alignment with IDinsight’s mission and values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in LMIC and low-resource contexts
  • Experience supporting senior leaders or working closely with executive teams
  • Exposure to organizational strategy, business operations, or governance processes
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional or cross-regional initiatives
  • Familiarity with nonprofit governance or Board processes
  • Local nationals of countries where IDinsight operates, or candidates with lived experience in the contexts in which we work, are especially encouraged to apply

Core Skills

  • Analytical rigor and comfort with both qualitative and quantitative reasoning
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into actionable insights
  • Ability to use AI tools for synthesis, drafting, research support, and workflow automation, while exercising sound judgment around responsible use and data sensitivity
  • Comfort operating across strategy, operations, and people-related workstreams

Ways of Working

  • Mature and thoughtful in judgment; exercises discretion
  • Curious and committed to self-improvement; open to feedback and continuous learning
  • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal instincts
