Ltd. (India’s largest Ready Made Garment firm), and Anant Nyshadham – Associate Professor at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, and Chief Strategy Officer & Co-founder of Good Business Lab.


Role: Field Consultant - Qualitative Research

Location: Delhi NCR/Punjab/Haryana/UP

Position Type: Contract-based full-time role

Contract Duration - 3 months (extension on need and performance basis)

Remuneration: INR 50,000 per month


The FC will work closely with academic researchers, the design team, the data team, and other field team members to help implement various projects and vertical-specific goals. The project is being implemented in the Environment sector and the FC is expected to work closely with multiple stakeholders in the field. They will also discover, establish connections and organize meetings with the right stakeholders on the field, based on the objectives of the research. They’ll be responsible for managing field research coordination, organisation and management overall.


What will you do (areas that will play to your strength and all the responsibilities we will trust you with):

  • Responsible for field research plan development, implementation, stakeholder coordination and field plan management.
  • Identify right stakeholders in the region based on research objectives and initiate outreach.
  • Reach out to local stakeholders, gain permissions/access through trusted sources, network and schedule meetings.
  • Coordinate with the stakeholders, manage field issues, make field visits to explain the research design, and align the workflow within their premises.
  • Managing logistics for interviews with and for the other team members travelling to the field.
  • Assist in planning and managing data collection through various methods like In-depth interviews, FGDs, Vignettes, etc., for both qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Assist in conducting qualitative interviews on field.
  • Translating and transcribing interviews.
  • Ensure good data quality by following GBL data collection standards.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete and well-maintained, including designing, maintaining, and tracking field reports/project logs in Google documents and spreadsheets, along with drafting and developing materials, manuals, guidelines, and field protocols as per project requirements.
  • Coordinating with the finance and the people ops vertical on various vendor and procurement management tasks.


Who are you? Ideally, you have (The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role):

  • Bachelor's/Master’s in Economics, Social Work, or any related field, Minimum 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Work experience in conducting field work in North India like scoping surveys
  • Experience in Design Research methods such as stakeholder interviews, context inquiries (observational studies) etc.
  • Previous experience in conducting surveys with farmers and field activities in villages in North India will be preferred
  • Ability to work in a team, manage multiple projects on the ground, review and prioritize work independently, and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
  • Ability to work standard work hours and should be open for traveling (in and around NCR) for field work
  • Be detail-oriented, have strong organization and self-management, and have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful and creative in problem-solving
  • Basic to pro-level experience in Google Suite
  • Ability to read, write and converse in Hindi and English (A candidate that can also speak in Punjabi would have an advantage)
