BACKGROUND

IsraAID is a non-profit, non-governmental and apolitical humanitarian aid agency dedicated to supporting populations in crisis around the world. Founded in 2001, as of 2026, the organization has responded to crises in 68 countries and has ongoing operations in 10 countries, spanning a wide range of different sectors of expertise from both the humanitarian aid and international development arenas.

IsraAID has operated in Vanuatu since 2015 when we responded to Tropical Cyclone Pam, and has since shifted our focus to implement long term strategies for programs in WASH, health and nutrition, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, and DRR. IsraAID’s work in Vanuatu promotes sustainable and inclusive solutions, giving special attention to hands-on training and community ownership, and working closely with community, provincial, and national leaders.

The Finance Officer directly oversees all financial, accounting, and assists with some administrative operations in the Country Office. The position liaisons between Headquarters (HQ) and the country office, as well as external stakeholders.

Financial and Accounting

  • In charge of expenses forecasting and control
  • Regular and ad hoc financial reporting and analyses to the country office, HQ and donors
  • Ensure internal and external compliance.
  • In charge of bookkeeping, cash management, payroll, payments and bank management
  • In charge of successful internal and external auditing
  • Work closely with Country Director, Procurement and Logistics Officer and program staff on financial program management.
  • Assist the Country Director the preparation of the annual budget, overseeing budgetary planning and cost management, as well as updating the accounting system if necessary
  • Develop budgets for new project proposals and budget revision in collaboration with the Technical and Program Coordinators

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES

  • Required - Intermediate or higher working level of Excel.
  • Required – Intermediate or higher working level of Xero.
  • Preferred - University degree in Finance Management or another related field.
  • Preferred -1-2 years Experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
  • Able to work independently and with a team.
  • Highly flexible and a self-starter
  • Self-learner: able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.
  • Resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • This is a National Position
