This part-time internship is a hybrid role located in Florida and will be up to 25 hours per week. You will report to the Program Manager, Florida. This internship will run from June 1-August 15. 

Common Cause is seeking an intern to work with our Florida team relating to voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform. In this role you will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, research, policy development, communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process.

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:
  • Support and, when appropriate, lead components of student-focused Election Protection engagement efforts, including coordinating with campus-based student organizations to execute public education campaigns and organizing events in collaboration with partner organizations. 
  • Assist in planning and implementing voter education initiatives leading up to the August 2026 primary elections, with a focus on accessible, nonpartisan information dissemination. 
  • Provide operational and technical support for the Florida Election Protection program, including developing and updating online resources, toolkits, and educational materials. 
  • Support partner organizations participating in the Poll Monitor program by assisting with volunteer recruitment efforts, coordinating training logistics, distributing supplies, and sharing program resources. 
  • Conduct research to inform advocacy and voter education strategies, including outreach and engagement with local government offices as needed. 
  • Contribute to digital engagement efforts by supporting social media campaigns, including designing graphics and materials using platforms such as Canva. 
  • Participate in meetings with coalition partners and stakeholders, taking notes, tracking action items, and supporting follow-up coordination. 


Qualifications:

You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:

  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner   
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills  
  • A willingness to learn new skills
