We use an engaged approach providing tailored financing and one-on-one business development support to social entrepreneurs in emerging markets. Through their businesses, social entrepreneurs empower people in their communities with the hard and soft skills, technology and ongoing support they need to improve their livelihoods and create dignified futures.

NESsT currently manages a loan fund that actively invests in social enterprises looking to raise capital from $50K to $500K. The fund provides senior, secured debt to profitable companies looking to scale their operations to have a stronger and more sustainable social impact. The loan fund has activities in Peru and Colombia and is growing into other countries in South America, including Brazil.

Position Overview

NESsT is currently looking for a Data Scientist/Analyst to support its global operations and impact measurement efforts. This person will play a key role in structuring, analyzing, and visualizing organizational and impact data to improve decision-making across NESsT’s programs. They will work closely with leadership, program, and portfolio teams to ensure data is accessible, actionable, and aligned with our mission to generate dignified employment in marginalized communities.

The Impact Management Associate will contribute to the development and improvement of data tools and processes, assist in building predictive models, and help communicate impact in compelling and evidence-based ways to internal and external stakeholders. They will also collaborate on the creation of a standardized impact measurement tool to be used by NESsT’s portfolio companies.

The position reports to the Chief of Impact and Operations Officer (CI&OO) and will work in close coordination with team members across NESsT’s countries of operation, with potential for travel depending on project needs.

We’re looking for someone passionate about data, with a strong foundation in statistical modeling and data visualization, and who can communicate complex information in a way that is engaging and accessible to diverse audiences — including our Board, donors, management, portfolio team, portfolio enterprises and broader stakeholders.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify valuable data sources and automate data collection processes.
  • Clean, pre-process, and structure both qualitative and quantitative datasets.
  • Analyze large datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Build predictive models and machine learning algorithms to improve decision-making.
  • Collaborate on the development of a tool to measure impact across NESsT’s portfolio companies.
  • Design effective data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Produce regular reports for internal and external audiences (Board, donors, partners).
  • Work with program managers to design and evaluate performance metrics.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of data policies and governance within the organization.
  • Support the integration of data tools (e.g., Salesforce) across operational areas.
  • Translate complex findings into simple language for communication and training purposes.
  • Support the team to review companies’ quarterly and annual impact reporting   
  • Support the team with Metrics and Methodology, as needed 


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst or Impact Management Analyst/Associate, preferably in the nonprofit or social impact sector.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, data mining, machine learning, and operations research.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM and data management platforms like Salesforce.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to synthesize and present data in a clear, engaging, and accessible way.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong technical writing ability.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating across remote, multicultural teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of social impact measurement frameworks is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English to be an effective communicator among diverse internal and external audiences;  
  • Familiarity with Metrics, Impact management and Data analysis. 
  • Good verbal and written skills in Spanish would be a plus.

Schedule: 9 am – 6 pm with one-hour lunch break - remotely
