Product Owner (Configuration Analyst)

Tiko
On-site

Are you a strategic thinker who enjoys turning complex business needs into seamless, scalable system configurations? Do you thrive on bringing order to technical ecosystems while ensuring internal teams have exactly what they need to succeed? If you’re ready to treat configuration as a world-class product, this role is for you.

About Tiko

Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.

Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles -our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.

We invest in partners by strengthening CBO capacity, training frontline workers and providers, supporting clinic quality improvement, and compensating partners based on performance. Our technology platform connects all actors by enabling referrals, verifying service delivery, facilitating payments, and generating real-time data.

Tiko operates in six countries: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Nigeria, with additional offices in Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. For a clear overview of our work, we recommend watching this short video.

Globally, our team consists of +250 enthusiastic, international colleagues. Whether you are working from our biggest office in Nairobi, the fast-growing office in South Africa, or from home, our people are young, and our culture is global and dynamic. Our work environment is fast-paced, informal, and friendly.

We are open to remote work for this position and will happily accept applicants from anywhere in Portugal, Kenya and South Africa.

The Job

We are seeking a Product Owner for our Config Platform to lead the evolution and optimisation of our configuration capabilities. This is a highly customer-centric role where you will act as the primary bridge between business requirements and technical delivery. You will own "System Configuration" as a core product capability within our internal services ecosystem. Your mission is to move our platform from reactive handling to a proactive, structured roadmap that reduces manual effort and ensures consistency across all our markets.

Key Responsibilities

Product Configuration & Strategy

  • Capability Ownership: Manage the full request lifecycle, from initial refinement and prioritisation in Asana to final delivery alignment with our Application Support teams.
  • Structured Delivery: Translate business needs into clear, actionable epics and user stories in Jira, ensuring every task has robust acceptance criteria.
  • Journey Alignment: Maintain a deep understanding of user journeys across all Tiko markets to ensure configurations match local operational realities.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the go-to expert for configuration within our Core Internal Services, guiding roadmap decisions based on your understanding of technical architectures and system constraints.

Product Evolution & Roadmap

  • Proactive Optimisation: Identify gaps between current setups and evolving business needs. Use data and feedback to drive initiatives that reduce human error and duplication.
  • Roadmap Leadership: Own the configuration platform evolution roadmap and backlog, partnering with Product Managers and Engineering to execute high-impact enhancements.
  • Internal Customer Success: Enable stakeholder needs through platform-native configurations, championing "out-of-the-box" solutions over custom development to maintain ecosystem integrity.

Coordination & Knowledge Sharing

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate release timelines and deployments, keeping all stakeholders informed on progress and outcomes.
  • Documentation & Governance: Ensure all changes are properly version-controlled and supported by clear, accessible user guides.
  • Training & Adoption: Collaborate on demos and training sessions to ensure our teams fully understand and adopt new configuration changes.

About you

You are a proactive leader who values transparency and clear communication. You are naturally curious about how systems work and how they can be improved to make life easier for the people using them.

You describe yourself as a "bridge-builder", someone who can translate complex technical constraints into simple business terms. You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and you take pride in creating high-quality documentation that empowers others. You thrive in a collaborative environment where you can mentor others and contribute to a growing technical ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Configuration Analyst, or in a similar technical delivery role.
  • Proven ability to gather business requirements and translate them into structured PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong experience leading cross-functional delivery and managing expectations across diverse internal teams.
  • Experience working with complex back-office tools or CRM platforms (Salesforce experience is a significant plus).
  • Familiarity with tracking and project management tools such as Jira, Asana, or Productboard.
  • Excellent English skills with a focus on creating clear, structured documentation and guiding stakeholders through change.
