ABOUT ISRAAID

IsraAID is an international non-governmental humanitarian aid organization headquartered in Israel, with humanitarian missions around the world. Our mission is to support people affected by humanitarian crises, and we have responded to more than 115 emergencies in 65+ countries since we were founded in 2001. Wherever floods, droughts, hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, conflicts, and other hazards strike, we are side-by-side with communities on the ground. We provide immediate relief, support recovery, and reduce the risks of future emergencies.

ABOUT DEVCOMMS

IsraAID’s DevComms department – comprising the development and communications teams – is responsible for securing IsraAID’s financial stability and growth. We lead IsraAID's global fundraising strategy, uphold the global fundraising infrastructure, and promote the organization’s visibility, brand, storytelling, and messaging to diverse audiences.

As a Senior Development Officer, you will be part of our fundraising arm – mostly producing and coordinating funding requests, compliance, and other donor-facing literature, for a range of philanthropic and humanitarian institutional donors. You’ll also own several strategic portfolios within the development stream. These responsibilities will bring you into regular contact with IsraAID’s global humanitarian missions; fundraising offices in the US, Canada, and Australia; and other departments at HQ.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write grant applications, proposals, reports, and other materials for charitable foundations, federations, individual donors, and humanitarian institutions.
  • Lead the development of complex funding proposal packages, in close coordination with humanitarian missions worldwide and HQ-based colleagues.
  • Support IsraAID's global fundraising teams and humanitarian missions, including help with proposals, reports, and digital tools.
  • Research, map, and identify new donor audiences and funding opportunities.
  • Hold key portfolios, likely to include 1-2 donor groups and 1-2 projects/workstreams.
  • Support logistics, operations, and follow-up for donor visits to humanitarian missions.
  • Input data into Salesforce, IsraAID's donor CRM system.
  • Present to visiting groups and at relevant events/conferences.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Native or as-native English speaker.
  • Strong, ideally professional-level spoken and written Hebrew.
  • Outstanding written communication skills, including writing, proofing, and editing.
  • 4-6 years grant writing experience, with a proven record of writing grant applications, proposals, and reports in English at a very high level.
  • Experience in project/portfolio management.
  • Ability to translate program data into stories that donors/supporters can connect to.
  • Ability to read program budgets. This role does not include budget management, but you will need to understand budgets and financial reports for donors.
  • Experience in using CRM/donor database systems, preferably Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of the philanthropic field – charitable foundations, institutional and governmental donors, Jewish Federations and individual donors.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines, both independently and as part of an extremely busy team. This includes readiness to operate when IsraAID deploys to an emergency setting and workloads increase temporarily but significantly.

ADVANTAGES

  • Experience in humanitarian aid, international development, or human rights.
  • Experience working as part of a resource development team.
  • Basic design skills (Canva).
