The big picture: Axios is committed to delivering trustworthy, award-winning news in an audience-first format. As part of our growth strategy, the Axios Events Team - a creative, strategic arm of the revenue organization - is hiring a Senior Director of Client Management, Axios Live.
Why it matters: This senior leader will define the strategic vision for client delivery post-sale of an event, guide a growing team, and oversee complex multi-sponsor programs central to Axios’ commercial success. This role is the top client-facing partner for our most visible event collaborations and a key driver of retention, brand experience, and cross-functional alignment across Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Design, and Operations. This role will report to the Executive Vice President (head of department) of Axios Live and work closely with the members of the Client Partnership team who are responsible for overall client relationships and all integrated campaigns, some of which include events.

Lead Strategy & Growth
- Establish standards for event execution, sponsor integration, and communication at scale.
- Act as a thought partner on experiential strategy and audience engagement.
Drive Client Success
- Serve as the executive lead for top-tier sponsors in collaboration with the Client Partnership client lead .
- Collaborate on event renewal and upsell strategies grounded in performance insights and proactive consultation.
- Guide senior-level partner communications across complex, multi-stakeholder programs.
Manage & Develop Talent
- Lead and grow a team of client management professionals.
- Set clear goals, coaching pathways, and systems for accountability and excellence.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Own Event Delivery
- Lead 20+ annual programs across virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats.
- Oversee 150+ annual programs lead by the full client management team.
- Ensure sponsor messaging aligns with Axios editorial standards while delivering measurable ROI.
- Optimize workflows, communication protocols, and reporting across teams.
Worthy of your time: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission and have the following skills and qualifications:
- 12-15 years in client-facing roles across media, experiential marketing, communications, or event production.
- Prior experience in sales or strategic partnerships.
- Expertise in managing complex, multi-sponsor programs and high-profile partnerships.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of team development and operational ownership.
- Exceptional commercial instincts with demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment to resolve issues.
- Exceptional communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior executives.
- Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with project and event management platforms (e.g., Wrike, Asana, Cvent).
- Willingness to travel and support early or late event execution as needed.
Starting salary for this role is in the range of $160,000 - $190,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits.
