BACKGROUND
IsraAID is an Israel-based non-governmental organization that was founded in 2001 and has since its inception worked in emergency and long-term development settings in over 60 countries across the globe. IsraAID’s mission is to support people affected by humanitarian crises by partnering with local communities around the world to provide urgent aid, assist recovery, and reduce the risk of future disasters.
We are therefore seeking for experienced, self-motivated, a highly competent individual with exemplary ethical conduct to join our South Sudan Program as a Social Worker under UNICEF Funded Project to be based in Juba Urban.
JOB PURPOSE
The main responsibility of the Social Worker is to assist the community in needs to identify protection concerns and needs for services available and to work and cooperate with IsraAID staff (Project Officer, WGFS facilitators and Community mobilizers) communities and partners in ensuring that effective case management systems are in place and functioning. The post will also ensure IsraAID’s accountability to all stakeholders by developing case management (CM) follow up plans, clear process in case management, respect for ethics of intervention and above all, documentation, and insertion of all cases in the system.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Case Management and Psychosocial Support
- Conduct comprehensive case assessments under the guidance of the Case Manager to analyze clients’ needs, risks, and vulnerabilities, ensuring informed and client-centered service planning.
- Develop individualized care and action plans in collaboration with clients to support recovery, resilience, and overall wellbeing.
- Provide age-appropriate psychosocial support (PSS) and Psychological First Aid (PFA) to women, girls, boys, and caregivers, ensuring respect for confidentiality, safety, dignity, and non-discrimination principles.
- Facilitate safe and ethical identification, documentation, and management of GBV and child protection cases in line with established case management guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case files, including intake forms, action plans, follow-up records, and case closure documentation.
- Utilize GBVIMS and other case management systems effectively for data entry, tracking, and reporting while adhering strictly to data protection protocols.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to monitor progress, reassess needs, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Facilitate safe referrals to appropriate service providers (health, legal, psychosocial, and protection services) and ensure follow-up on referral outcomes.
- Support case closure processes in line with case management standards, ensuring client consent and satisfaction.
- Provide structured group support sessions for survivors and at-risk individuals to promote healing, peer support, and empowerment.
- Community Outreach, Awareness, and Capacity Building
- Conduct community awareness sessions and home visits to promote help-seeking behavior, reduce stigma, and increase knowledge of available GBV and child protection services.
- Support community mobilizers in identifying vulnerable individuals and safely referring cases to appropriate services.
- Deliver training and sensitization sessions on GBV, Child Protection (CP), and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), including core principles such as confidentiality, informed consent, and survivor-centered approaches.
- Build the capacity of community leaders, caregivers, and community groups to identify, prevent, and respond to GBV and child protection concerns.
- Facilitate recreational and structured activities for children and adolescents to support psychosocial wellbeing and resilience.
- Strengthen community-based protection mechanisms and referral pathways through continuous engagement with local stakeholders.
- Promote inclusive participation of women, children, and marginalized groups in protection-related activities and decision-making processes.
- Reporting, Documentation, and Coordination
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all GBV and child protection cases, referrals, and service delivery activities.
- Maintain organized and secure filing systems (both physical and digital) in compliance with organizational and donor standards.
- Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports, including data contributions to 5W matrices and Kobo-based reporting systems.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting on program indicators, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
- Document impact stories, case studies, and lessons learned on a regular basis to support program visibility and learning.
- Coordinate closely with case managers, community mobilizers, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure integrated service delivery.
- Participate in case conferences, supervision sessions, and team meetings to strengthen case management quality and accountability.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards, safeguarding policies, and protection principles in all aspects of work.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support program implementation and organizational objectives.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
- The position requires’ a holder of BA degree in Social Studies, Counselling, Psychology, or related field with at least 3 years working experience with community approach and community-based interventions.
- Experience in community capacity building, prevention and response and risk mitigation in humanitarian context.
- GBV/Child Protection Prevention and Response programming as an added value.
Must be neutral enough to work with different communities.
