The role

This role plays a critical role in helping the organisation build incredible products and translating technical AI breakthroughs into shippable user experiences. You will lead on partnering with executives and teams across GDM on a range of product development projects within the CEO’s portfolio. You will partner closely with leaders, Product Managers, Designers and teams across multiple functions to strategically plan, prioritise, and execute critical product initiatives.

This role will require significant influence and credibility, driving strategic programs in partnership with the organisation that are large and complex, span multiple functions, and have a direct impact on Google DeepMind’s mission. You will leverage a deep internal Google network and extensive experience with Google products and systems to enable the progress of critical programs and help facilitate implementation. Agility and nimbleness is critical; this role will evolve alongside the CEO’s role as we progress towards our mission.

The Office of the CEO (OCEO) team works as a tight and lean unit and successful execution requires a high degree of communication, trust, and organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders, product managers, designers and other teams to develop and deploy critical programs and maximise the success of the CEO’s engagement with key product initiatives across the business’ portfolio.
  • Create strong partnerships with key stakeholders across Google DeepMind; instilling high levels of trust across the organisation and providing recommendations on important decisions. You will share insights and analytical depth, as well as the 'bigger picture', integrating internal and external factors and cross-functional knowledge. 
  • Prepare, present and gain agreement among senior executives on business cases, and then lead and influence teams to execute in line with the agreed strategy.
  • Leverage specialist internal expertise to make recommendations, with influence and credibility, on pivotal decisions
  • Build trusted relationships across Google and Alphabet, to enable the progress of critical programs and help facilitate implementation

About you

In order to set you up for success in this role at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • You have a track record of building successful products from concept to deployment, ideally with experience as an entrepreneur building multiple products.
  • Deep background in Applied AI, with experience working on projects from proof-of-concept through to implementation in an industry setting.
  • An impeccable eye for design and building amazing user experiences, maintaining the highest standards until they are met.
  • You have worked closely and consistently with senior executives, ideally in direct support (for instance, as a Chief of Staff or Operating Partner)
  • Extensive experience collaborating and influencing senior leaders and executive to define, develop and prioritise programs, forming high trust relationships across an organisation
  • Skilled at written and verbal communications, including emails, memos and presentations, across audiences of all sizes and backgrounds
  • A strong problem solver, you possess exceptional analytical skills, with a proven ability to bring structure to ambiguity and a bias to action
  • Experience in contributing to functionally, geographically and culturally diverse teams
  • Possessing high degrees of resilience, you seek out feedback and strive for continuous improvement. With confidence, you ask questions, make suggestions, and kindly challenge when needed
  • Awareness and a firm comprehension of the Google DeepMind organisation, understanding how to get things done and an ability to proactively connect dots to further enable progress
  • No task is too big or too small, you can adapt to the changing needs of OCEO and company
  • Trustworthy, discreet and impartial, with a high level of integrity and excellent sense of judgement
