WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Per Scholas is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as a Teaching Fellow - IT Support. This person will join our Technical Instruction Training Team and be classified as a support instructor. The Teaching Fellow will play an essential role in our organization’s mission, as they train Per Scholas learners to be outstanding entry-level technicians.

The Teaching Fellow will be responsible for providing effective support to the Lead Instructor and learners in and out of training sessions, reinforcing the curriculum, and assisting with classroom management and administrative tasks.

Main Objectives

The candidate should be able to:

  • Provide effective support to the Lead Instructor in and out of training sessions (Class).
  • Provide effective support to Learners in and out of training sessions.
  • Display knowledge or ability to understand basic information technology areas including:
    •   Hardware
    •   Software
    •   Networking
    •   Security
    •   Troubleshooting
    •   Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Responsibilities

Lab / Classroom Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Instructor in conducting technical training sessions.
  • Monitor and assist learners (15–30 students) in lab or classroom environments.
  • Troubleshoot lab equipment, software, or network issues.
  • Provide tutoring/office hours for learners who need additional support.
  • Support classroom time management and instructional pacing.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Grade and review labs, assessments, and assignments.
  • Utilize LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas) to monitor learner performance and attendance.
  • Perform data entry and record keeping in systems such as Salesforce.
  • Participate in regular check-ins with instructors and management.
  • Meet with learners 1:1 to discuss progress and performance.

Growth Responsibilities

  • Upskill and cross-train to support additional course offerings.
  • Engage in professional development using platforms such as Canvas, Udemy, Coursera, and LinkedIn Learning.
  • Occasionally support instruction delivery in preparation for promotion to Lead Instructor.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

  • Graduate of Per Scholas or equivalent IT experience.
  • CompTIA A+, Google IT, or related certifications preferred.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of information technology.
  • Interest in teaching and supporting learners.

  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Responsible, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Ability to work independently without micromanagement.

For this role specifically, we are targeting a hourly rate of of $18.00/hr, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides and alignment with qualifications and experience
