The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community’s creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

VNI Manager, Cost Manager

The Venues and Infrastructure (VNI) team plays a critical role in delivering Games-specific temporary infrastructure for competition and non-competition venues to ensure that they are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Sport and Games Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed, developed, and delivered with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion, while respecting the timeframes established with the venues for the LA28 exclusive use periods. 

Reporting to the Sr. Mgr., Cost Management, the VNI Manager, Cost Manager will own the costs and budget for groups of venues. The Cost Manager will build out the venue budgets with the Estimators, coordinate with Procurement and Contracts teams to reconcile tender documents to the approved budgets and integrate with the Venue Delivery teams to manage invoices and cash flows with Finance. The Cost Manager will work with other Cost Managers to harmonize reporting and tracking, anticipate and identify financial risks, and prepare consistent review and approvals across all infrastructure venue projects.

 

The successful candidate will manage project costs in major temporary events or complex infrastructure delivery programs

Key Responsibilities:

Venue Cost Management

  • Prepare and manage the budgets across several venues in a sports cluster or group with the Venue Managers and Directors
  • Forecast cash flows with Finance, categorizing costs according to agreed reporting groups (commodities, partners, sports)
  • Review invoices in partnership with Venue Delivery teams

 

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare cash flows and reporting with Finance
  • Reconcile invoicing with contract terms and purchase orders
  • Review financial change orders and manage program budget categories

Background & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in project cost management or finance
  • Knowledge of key construction project financial processes and risk
  • Experience with infrastructure projects and/or sport and events delivery
  • Expert knowledge reporting tools such as Excel, Tableau, PowerBI
  • Adept at meetings facilitation, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • The position is in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required.
  • Occasional travel to venue sites during planning
  • Venue based during build phase
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Project management desired

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.000 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
