Editor– South Asia (India – Full time Remote)

 

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking an experienced and talented Editor to support our India-based research team to produce high-quality, accurate, influential and timely content focusing on the energy and finance sectors. The Editor will oversee the publication process and team to support IEEFA’s impact in the energy transition to a zero-emissions future. This position is a remote work-based role and candidates may be located anywhere in India, preferably Delhi.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have outstanding editing and writing skills, exceptional attention to detail and a drive to support the analysts to deliver quality content within deadlines. You will be a self-starter, multitasker and strong problem-solver. You will also bring an outcome-driven focus to your work to deliver on IEEFA’s strategic impact goals and must possess a commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy.

 

You are expected to be self-motivated, be a multitasker, and work independently without continuous supervision. Working as part of a remote team in India, you’ll be expected to be able to communicate effectively with other members of the team over a variety of mediums (video calls, Slack, G-suite, ClickUp etc.), be comfortable with raising issues or questions along the way, and provide insights into your work.

 

IEEFA is a rapidly-growing NGO/ not-for-profit that conducts research and analysis on financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends, and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 70+ analysts and communications personnel located in 15 countries across the globe. IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research, as well as ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the adherence to the publication, editing and design processes while reporting to the Communications Manager, South Asia
  • Ensure the production of high-quality, objective, accurate, influential and timely content, ready for publication on IEEFA’s website and for distribution to stakeholders
  • Copyediting reports and commentaries while researching and checking infographics and fact sheets
  • Oversee quality assurance of IEEFA content, including fact-checking of research as well as accurate formatting and branding
  • Communicating and collaborating with analysts to ensure that content is aligned with IEEFA’s publication style, editorial policy, and publishing specifications
  • Writing media releases and cowriting commentaries and key takeaways with analysts to accompany reports
  • Assist in the uploading reports, commentaries, and fact sheets to the IEEFA website utilizing keywords and search engine optimization knowledge
  • Assisting in the development of communication strategy and contributing to regional discussions on social media
  • Assisting with the development of social media campaigns and other marketing initiatives and activities such as webinars
  • Keep abreast of key developments in energy and finance research

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s education in Journalism, English or another related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as an Editor, copywriter or similar role.
  • Proven ability in writing, editing and proofreading technical subject matter.
  • Proficient in digital publishing tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and Canva.
  • Understanding of social media platforms and appropriate use of their writing styles, tone of voice and analytics.
  • Grasp of the fundamentals of search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable economy.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) and email marketing software such as Hubspot.
  • Experience working within the financial/energy industries or for an energy or research organisation is favourable.

 

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time 12-month fixed-term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement and a market competitive remuneration.

 

Work Schedule

Full-time, 5 days/week with occasional evening or weekend work as required.

 

Travel

Some travel is required. All team members attend the international and regional team retreat.  

 

Physical Demand and Work Environment.

Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back, and neck strain.
