Position

InnovateEDU is seeking an Operations Intern to support the finance and operations functions within our mid-sized nonprofit organization. The Operations Intern will work closely with the Finance and Operations Manager to support administrative systems and routines of the organization, with a particular focus on InnovateEDU’s operations. This will give you first-hand experience in nonprofit management and operations with the opportunity to interact directly with senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Data Management: Support the maintenance and updating of our vendor databases, ensuring all information is accurate and current
  • Operations Projects: Take on other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and gain experience in various operational areas
  • Human Resources & Operations: Support the HR team with administrative tasks such as maintaining digital personnel files
  • Financial Analysis and Administration: Help with finance tasks, such as tracking expenses and assisting with financial record-keeping. Help analyze financial data to inform strategic decisions and support the Finance and Operations team.

Skills and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program with a strong interest in the non-profit sector or business/operations
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrates ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with common office software, such as Google Workspace
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.


Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this internship, the intern will have:

  • Developed a foundational understanding of non-profit operations and finance
  • Learned a new project management software such as Asana to improve overall professional development
  • Improved written and verbal communication skills through reaching out to vendors and colleagues
  • Gained practical experience in financial analysis and reporting within a non-profit context through QuickBooks Online and bill.com
  • Learned human resources principles/policies involved to support a remote team
  • Honed organizational and time management skills in a professional setting


Schedule

This is a remote, unpaid position with an expected schedule of approximately 10-15 hours per week. The Operations Intern is expected to develop a set schedule at the beginning of their internship and have it approved by the Finance and Operations Manager. The internship duration is typically one semester and can be extended. InnovateEDU is happy to support responsibilities and expectations for course credit supervision so that the internship may be used for practicum, course, or capstone credit. Upon request, letters of recommendation will be written for those who have demonstrated dedication and contributed successfully to the organization
