Fred Rogers Productions is seeking a Temporary Production Assistant to join our dynamic team working on the children's television series Alma’s Way. The Production Assistant will play an essential role in supporting the production process, ensuring smooth project organization, asset management, and effective coordination across teams. This position will be located at the Fred Rogers Productions offices and will follow a Hybrid working schedule.


Key Responsibilities  


Project Organization and Scripting

  • Read scripts and watch episodes to build project background knowledge.
  • Organize and archive all final script assets on project server.
  • Collaborate with key staff to finalize script titles and update project master sheet.
  • Review, proof, and spellcheck broadcast scripts, episode descriptions, and loglines. 

Production 

  • Download design packs, check against scripts, and distribute to appropriate reviewers including internal teams and advisors.
  • Attend design and animation production calls, accurately take notes, and ensure timely distribution of notes to production partners.
  • Manage filing of all art assets and notes on FRP server and maintain accuracy of the design tracker.
  • Distribute animation deliverables such as casting selects, music tracks, and animation to internal and external reviewers. Collate and upload notes for production partners.
  • Prepare for animation reviews by conducting script checks and cross-checking notes in collaboration with Project Coordinator. Collate, file, and upload final notes for production partners.
  • Perform quality checks on videos and accessibility elements (such as captions) before and after delivery to broadcaster in coordination with the Project Coordinator. 
  • Assist Project Coordinator in collecting and organizing art assets and screen grabs for outside partners. 

Cross-Department Coordination and Management

  • Assist the Production Coordinator with production logistics, including travel arrangements, clip requests, cast headshots and bios, and the delivery of promotional and episodic materials to internal stakeholders, PBS, and other production partners. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Minimum of 1 year of production experience in roles such as Production Assistant or equivalent production role.
  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, time-management, and project management skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a team.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, flexibility, kindness, and good humor.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of children’s media.
  • Available to work during regular business hours.
  • Facility with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Working knowledge of or fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Familiarity or expertise working within Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere and Photoshop.
  • Basic video editing skills.
