The Human Resources (HR) team works to find, grow and retain talent and build the NGS community. HR is dedicated to designing and building people and total reward strategies that enhance employee culture and the employee experience at NGS. The HR department includes HR Business Partners, Total Rewards & Recognition, Talent Management, and it leads the internship program at NGS.Your Impact
Responsibilities Include
Learning & Development (90%)
Design innovative and engaging onboarding and learning content for NGS staff, leaders, and teams
Create training materials and slide decks, as well as supporting materials such as rubrics, manuals, training guides, assets and more
Facilitate in-person and virtual instructor-led training workshops and onboarding programs
Conduct research to support content development
Coordinate efforts with HR Business Partners, internal communications, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure opportunities are widely accessible to all staff
Provide support for virtual, in-person, and online training events
Data Analysis & Reports (10%)
Monitor and evaluate workshop evaluation data to inform strategy and decision making
Gather and analyze data to evaluate and improve team and organizational effectiveness
What You’ll Bring
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
5+ years of work experience in learning and development/training and talent management
Necessary Knowledge and Skills
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
Experience facilitating across a variety of modalities including in-person and virtual
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Creative thinking, responsive problem-solving, and attention to detail
Creative thinking, responsive problem-solving, and attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of behavioral assessments such as DiSC, Clifton Strengths, Hogan
Understanding and application of team and change models

Salary Information
The National Geographic Society offers a competitive and holistic total rewards package. Our compensation structure and transparent pay philosophy are based on industry-specific market data for similar-sized nonprofit organizations.
The salary range for this position accounts for a wide range of factors including but not limited to organizational need; specific skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and more. At the National Geographic Society, individuals are typically hired at or near the starting point of the salary range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
The salary range for this role is $114,000 - $120,000.

Job Designation
Hybrid - At the Society, we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community, mentor and learn from colleagues, and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result, the majority of our staff are Hybrid. Our Hybrid category requires that staff work at Base Camp two days each week: every Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid staff are also always welcome to come in additional days each week if preferred.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
