Salary: £ 47,300

Closing date: Tuesday, 3 June 2025

Contract type: Permanent

Interview dates: W/c 23 June

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.

We are looking for a Strategic Partnerships, Senior Officer to join our team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be working as part of Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships (GRSP), the team leading Wellcome’s diplomatic efforts, advocating for change in the world, and building the knowledge and partnerships that help reach our goals.

This is an exciting time to be joining Strategic Partnerships as we grow our collaborations across sectors to have an impact on some of the biggest science and health challenges facing the world. You will get the opportunity to test out your partnership building acumen, working closely across Wellcome teams – especially our Solutions Programmes, Policy & Partnerships, Equity and Engagement teams. You’ll build impactful collaborations with key partner organisations, across multilateral agencies, philanthropy and the private sector, and you’ll bring insights from the external environment and work with senior leaders to deepen our relationships with key partners, to help ensure that the research we fund leads to impact for communities most affected by health challenges.

What will I be doing?

The role focuses on establishing and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including philanthropic, UN, private sector, and advocacy organisations, to drive impactful partnerships. You will lead discrete projects and support delivery of large-scale programmes, aligning with Wellcome's Strategic Partnerships goals to advance health initiatives.

As a Strategic Partnerships, Senior Officer, you will:

  • Collaborate with partners to identify opportunities for collaboration, conducting research and relationship mapping to shape partnership strategies.

  • Serve as the main liaison with key strategic partners and internal stakeholders, supporting the team in delivering partnerships with large and complex organisations.

  • Work with various Wellcome teams to devise and implement plans that align with strategic partnership objectives.

  • Provide logistical and coordination support for high-priority partnership activities within the Strategic Partnerships team.

  • Prepare briefings for senior Wellcome leaders on key partnerships, including detailed analysis of wider sector trends.

  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

Is this job for me?

We're seeking a candidate with a collaborative mindset and passion for high-impact partnerships, with international experience in health, research, or international development sectors, and expertise managing complex projects and working with diverse set of stakeholders. They should demonstrate strong coordination and planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive, problem-solving approach and enthusiasm for global health and international affairs.

To apply for this role please submit an update CV and answer 2 application questions to demonstrate that you meet the minimum requirements for the role.

Minimum Criteria:

  • Experience of strategic partnerships working internationally

  • Experience of working in health, research, and/or international development sectors

  • Experience of working across a wide range of stakeholders

  • Experience of planning and coordinating complex projects and seeing them through to delivery
